Colin Hampden-White originally comes from an army family in Edinburgh, and started his career at the Scotsman in 2001.

In 2003 Colin moved to London to work for The Times and FT.  Progressing from photojournalism, in 2006 he moved on to magazine features. By 2008 he had produced a body of fine art photography specialising in portraiture and was discovered by Rebecca Hossack, the well-known contemporary art Gallerist. 

Hossack gave him his first London solo show in February 2009 and his first solo show in New York in 2012; his work is now exhibited internationally and all over the UK including the National Portrait Gallery. Colin won the Cork Street Open Award in 2009 and the Champagne Louis Roederer Award for Artistry in 2012.

As well as producing fine art photography, Colin continues to photograph and write for Condé Nast and LUX.
